REQUIREMENTS What do I need, so I can fly ‘WOTR’? Minimum System: • CPU: Intel 3.0 GHz CPU Speed or higher. NVidia Graphics card, 670 GTX or above (or equivalent AMD/ATI graphics card should be fine but not our recommended). • 1.5GB or more of GPU RAM on the card is recommended. • A PC with 64 bit Windows; WINDOWS 11, WINDOWS 10, WINDOWS 8 / 8.1 or WINDOWS 7. • Memory: 6GB of system RAM or higher. • PC Joystick is very recommened. • Direct X 9 must be installed as per section 4 of WOTR FAQ, which is available at the top of the page. We recommend you close all possible background tasks, AV scanners etc. Note to run with a lower system specification, using lower graphic settings in Workshop, and lower campaign activity. See the WOTR-FAQ for more details. Recommended System: • Intel 3.6+GHz CPU or preferably higher. Multi-core will only help speed slightly as it will help only background processes. • Nvidia 1080 GTX GPU or higher for best performance. High resolutions like 3440x1440 pixels or 4K will certainly need a higher end card. In our testing a 1080 GTX runs 3440x1440 well, but 4K may need a higher card (we tested GTX 2080 TI here) depending on system and settings. Equivalent speed AMD/ATI graphics card with more than 2GB+ RAM should be fine but we do not recommend AMD/ATI generally. • Operating System: A PC with Windows10 (64 Bit), Windows 11 (64 Bit), or Windows 7 (64 Bit) are required. Windows 8, 8.1 (all 64 Bit) are supported too but generally not recommended. • Memory: 8GB PC RAM or higher. • PC Joystick - and optional rudder pedals can help immersion and control. • TrackIR head tracking is very recommended as it helps to really boost immersion, target acquisition, and situational awareness far more than using keys (other headtrackers such as the free FacetrackNoIR could be used) . • Direct X 9 must be installed exactly as per section 4 of WOTR FAQ (available at the top of the page). Note WOTR EXPANSION THE BATTLE OF FRANCE requires the base game WINGS OVER THE REICH to be able to install it and play. Please also note: • Licensing: You need to own Microsoft’s Combat Simulator 3 for licensing purposes. You do NOT need it to physically install it, and you do NOT need to insert the CD to play WOTR, but please make sure you own a copy for licensing. • You MUST also install DirectX9, yes even in Vista or Windows 7, Windows 8 or Windows 10. Please install it - see section 4 of the WOTR FAQ. The FAQ is available here on this page (at the top) and has step by step install guide for WOTR and Direct X9. You must also be a full Admin user! Naturalpoint's TrackIR head tracking hardware is highly recommended to allow full immersion when looking around in the virtual cockpits. We recommend you close all possible background tasks, AV scanners and other tasks that can take away from your CPU / HD usage. FaceTrackNOIR is a free alternative head tracker which works for some users. Other manufacturer’s GPU cards MAY work but are not recommended and not tested. Laptops may work, but are not recommended at all due to performance and often custom hardware and settings.
